ENG: The band Dizzy Dodo, named after the trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie as well as an extinct bird species from Madagascar, has set itself the goal of breathing new life into a genre of the 1950s and 1960s that has itself largely faded away: hard bop.

In a traditional lineup of trumpet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, piano, double bass, and drums, the band performs compositions by jazz icons such as Cannonball Adderley, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, and Lee Morgan.

Their music is strongly influenced by the musical language of blues and bebop and is characterized by captivating melodies, energetic improvisations, and vibrant rhythms.

DEUTSCH: Die Band Dizzy Dodo, benannt nach dem Trompeter Dizzy Gillespie sowie einer ausgestorbenen Vogelart Madagaskas, hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, einem auch bereits ausgestorbenen Genre der 1950-60er Jahre, dem Hardbop, neues Leben einzuhauchen.

In einer traditionellen Besetzung aus Trompete, Altsaxophon,Tenorsaxophon, Klavier, Kontrabass und Schlagzeug vertont die Band Kompositionen von Jazzikonen wie Cannonball Adderley, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie oder Lee Morgan.
